Union labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya says the government is working on extending ESIC benefits to millions of scheme workers. All industrial workers drawing up to Rs21,000 per month will be eligible for ESIC benefits that range from primary to tertiary care. “While the ESIC decision brought some 30 million workers under the social security net, the EPFO decision will have more than 50 million beneficiaries. “We may have faced political and trade union criticism and may have been labelled otherwise, but the reality is there is sincere effort,” he added. We are working on extending ESIC benefits to millions of scheme workers,” labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya said.
