NBA says Plateau killings heartbreaking, demands urgent action

The Nigerian Bar Association has condemned the recent killings in Jos, Plateau State, describing the attacks on residents during Palm Sunday as “gruesome” and unacceptable. The NBA warned that repeated killings without accountability were fostering a culture of impunity and eroding public confidence in the state’s ability to protect lives. The Federal and State Governments must immediately strengthen security presence in vulnerable communities in Plateau State and other flashpoints across the country,” it stated. It extended condolences to the families of victims and the people of Plateau State, expressing solidarity with those affected by the violence. In response to the violence, the Plateau State Government, under Governor Caleb Mutfwang, imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North, effective from midnight on March 29 until April 1, 2026.
