MyNews’ 1Q net profit up 5.2% on store expansion, reduced tax expense

KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): MyNews Holdings Bhd (KL:MYNEWS) reported a 5.2% increase in net profit for the first quarter ended Jan 31, 2026 (1QFY2026), driven by an increase in store openings and reduced tax expense. Net profit for 1QFY2026 was RM4.07 million, up from RM3.87 million in the same quarter a year ago, the retail convenience chain said in a filing on Tuesday. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, MyNews' net profit dropped 22.64% from RM5.3 million, as revenue improved 3.8% from RM229.7 million in 4QFY2025. Commenting on its prospects, the group expects business volume to grow by the opening of new outlets in the upcoming quarters in FY2026, focused on advancing food research and enhancing economies of scale across its convenience retail ecosystem. “The R&D team is dedicated to creating innovative, locally relevant ready-to-eat offerings that resonate with Malaysian consumers, thereby driving traffic, encouraging repeat purchases, and reinforcing the group’s competitive advantage in the convenience retail landscape,” MyNews said.
