Every week, a teddy bear shows up on Ruth Hasman’s porch. The Teddy Bear Restoration group has about 6,000 members who post photos of their clients, matted and slumped, old and crumbling, missing ears and eyes. She walks into her office, where a teddy bear is in pieces on her desk. Teddy bears have a little bit of magic to them. Before Hasman sent Dusty back east, she sent photos.
