With the US and China imposing more tariffs on each other, prospects of a quick turnaround in global trade have dimmed. If this happens, it will compound anxieties over the prospects for global trade. Fortunately, global crude oil prices have remained surprisingly resilient on the back of supply constraints. And over the medium term, it is possible that supply constraints could continue to support global crude oil prices. As a whole, global trade uncertainties will mean that Malaysia has to rely more on the domestic side for support.
