CA Justice Japar Dimaampao from Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, got six votes in a recent voting conducted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for the post vacated by retired Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-de Castro. There will be another vacancy in the SC this year in view of the ouster of Maria Lourdes Sereno as chief justice via quo warranto proceedings. Another one will have to be filled up in January next year with the retirement of SC Justice Noel Tijam. It is headed by Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio, with Sen. Richard Gordon, Mindoro Oriental Rep. Salvador Leachon and Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra as ex-officio members.
