The Kyankwanzi NRM district conference passed the resolution to lift the presidential age limit from the current 75 years to an unlimited age. Anne Maria Nakabirwa, the Kyankwanzi district NRM chairperson, said leaders in the district want the presidential candidate age limit requirement lifted. "The party district conference sat and we passed a resolution calling for removal of the presidential age limit from the mandatory 75 years," Nankabirwa said. If parliament amends the constitution, President Museveni - currently 71 years - will be able vie again for the country’s top seat in 2021 up to 2026. Yoweri Museveni's national resistance movement (NRM) wants the Uganda's constitution amended to remove age limits for presidential candidates.
