The Attorney General’s Office reported Thursday that the Acting Chairman of the Municipality of Benina and the Acting Financial Controller of the Municipality were detained pending trial for misappropriating LD 214,900 of municipality funds. The two are accused of deviation in the work of the Executive Council and of misappropriating public funds by deliberately falsifying data related to disbursing salaries to people who did not work in the municipality. They spent LD 214, 900 as rewards to people who do not hold public office. Thus, the investigator ended up ordering their detention pending the case.
