The World Bank (WB) is likely to finance the planned Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavli Metro line and initial discussions have already started. "Discussions to implement the Metro IV project, with financial assistance from the WB, are headed in a positive direction," said a Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) official. Of the estimated Rs 14,549 crore project cost, 48% will be borrowed from the WB. "At present, this Metro project is awaiting the state cabinet's nod. The deadline likely to be set to complete and launch the project for public use is 2021.
