The gamut of teak felling by Multanis includes cutting of the commercially valuable variety of wood (tectona grandis) in the forest in Pembi and nearby forest ranges. The proposed plan meticulously prepared by Adilabad District Forest Officer B. Prabhakar enlists the incidence and rehabilitation measures. It identifies as many as 43 offenders from these villages and the kingpins involved. A meeting of the District Forest Protection Committee, headed by Collector D. Divya with Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier and the DFO as members, held three days back, discussed the rehabilitation issue as per the plan. It includes construction of a minor irrigation tank to support agriculture, development of road network, skill development for youth, measures towards building sustainable livelihood and sanction of government entitlements like pension etc.
