Decision sought on land acquisition for AFS

Given that additional lands had been identified to be acquired for the purpose of establishing the Air Force Station (AFS), villagers from habitations around the aerodrome hope for a pronouncement on the long-pending decision regarding acquisition of their land. It may be noted here that even the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, the agency which vetted the requisition made by the IAF, had given its recommendation in favour of land acquisition. Land has been identified for acquisition at Anukunta (535 acres), Khanapur (481 acres), Kachkanti (313 acres) and Tantoli (261 acres). “Contract labourers are not ready to work in our fields as they fear they could lose the job midway if the government starts land acquisition at a wrong time,” added Raja Reddy, a farmer from the same village. “The delay in initiating the process of land acquisition is also delaying the most important development that this backward area can hope to see,” said Suresh Pataskar of the Civil Society, Adilabad.
