A group of unidentified muggers have robbed and hacked a retired army sergeant to death at Shakpala Bus Stand in Bogra’s Shajahanpur upazila. The deceased is Shafiqul Islam, 45, who was on LPR (leave preparatory for retirement) following his retirement from Bangladesh Army. Ashraful is an trainee army private and arrived at Bogra the same night from Jessore Cantonment on vacation. Some of the muggers dragged Shafiqul into an adjacent park while his son was engaged in a brawl with the rest of the bandits. Shajahanpur police station Officer-in-charge Zia Latiful Islam said the son of the deceased has lodged a case against the unidentified muggers in connection with his father’s murder.
