Scales has just posted another healthy annual profit, and managing director Andy Borland said online retail marketing by subsidiary Mr Apple was a major focus for the company in China, providing higher returns. The Mr Apple division produced 12 different apple varieties, with the sweet reds most favoured by Chinese eaters. The company accounts for about one quarter of all New Zealand apple exportsOne of the most recent varieties produced by Mr Apple orchards, and two other companies, is Diva, a shiny red apple which can be cool stored for longer.
