MOTORCYCLISTS are reminded not to use the main line at the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) from 6am to 11pm. PROLINTAS Expressway Sdn Bhd, the concessionaire for the GCE, in a statement said the reminder was in accordance with the Government Gazette under Section 70 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Prohibition on Use of Road) 2010. “Motorcyclists are directed to use the special motorcycle lanes to reduce the number of road accidents on GCE,” read the statement. PROLINTAS said it had taken proactive measures to conduct regular patrols at the motorcycle lanes to ensure that they were safe. It was reported previously that, since January last year, about 40 per cent of death from road accidents on the GCE involved motorcyclists.
