Moroccan Mohamed Belaich appointed AU Special Representative in Sudan


The African Union (AU) has appointed Moroccan national Mohamed Belaich as the Pan-African organization’s Special Representative and Head of the AU Office in Sudan, a statement of the organization said. Ambassador Mohamed Belaich will represent the AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat in Sudan. Belaich served as ambassador of Morocco to Kuwait, Libya and Sudan. The AU statement also said Angolan ambassador Matias Bertino Matondo was appointed as the new Special Representative and Head of Office for the African Union in the Central African Republic. The Angolan diplomat will replace Bedializoun Nebié Moussa, who has been called to other functions, the statement said, adding the post in Sudan has been vacant.
