More than 143,000 cumulative Covid-19 infections in North Africa, at least 6,000 deaths so far, Egypt worst hit


The cumulative confirmed infections of Covid-19 in the North African countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt reached 143,258 over the weekend ending 26 July 2020. This figure brings the total number of people affected by this virus at 1,455 confirmed cases. The cumulative death toll as of 27 July is 50, as 248 are still carrying the virus and being monitored, including seven hospitalized. On July 26, COVID-19-related death toll in Libya was 60, based on data reported by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC). In Egypt, the death toll from Covid-19 reached 4,558 on Saturday, 25 July on combined confirmed infection cases exceeding 91,000.
