African Development Bank Regional Economic Outlook 2020 - Covid-19 Response and Economic Diversification Crucial to Growth Recovery in Southern Africa, the Most Affected Region


In the worst-case scenario, growth in Southern Africa would fall to -6.6% in 2020 before recovering to 2.2% in 2021. The impact of COVID-19 in South Africa is projected to trickle to the rest of the Southern African economies. South Africa is now the fifth-worst affected country in the world, with close to 400,000 confirmed cases.
