Actor Moon Moon Sen who contested from Asansol, West Bengal as a Trinamool Congress candidate, is trailing by nearly 40,000 votes at 10:30 am. In 2014, Sen debuted in the Lok Sabha as a Trinamool Congress seat after winning from Bankura in West Bengal. Sen rode the Mamata Banerjee wave that consistently won Trinamool Congress elections since it came to power in West Bengal in 2011. Not only did the BJP win last time, communal clashes have helped the party to polarise it further, BJP workers said. Asansol witnessed a spate of political violence before and during the polls with Supriyo’s car getting vandalised.
