But, the council's strategy and policy committee was asked on Wednesday to consider how the gravel levy might be collected in the future. There had been discussions with Ngāti Kauwhata since He Tini Awa ended about how the money might be managed, he said. He was worried about the 67c levy on top of the standard 40c levy for gravel extraction, with extractors usually having to pay fees to property owners at extraction points.
