In his first interview following the disputed polls, Bishop-elect Mwaro thanked the council for having faith in him. ACK Bishop Hannington Institute of Theology and Development Studies lecturer Alphonce Mwaro Baya won the fierce battle to succeed Bishop Julius Kalu after three rounds of voting on Saturday. Bishop Kalu, who has served in the position for 24 years and is set to retire this month, said he was not aware of any irregularity. Mombasa Diocese has been peaceful all through.”In his first interview following the disputed polls, Bishop-elect Mwaro thanked the council for having faith in him. “I’m humbled for the responsibility and confidence bestowed on me by the Church and faithful,” said Bishop-elect Mwaro.
