Mombasa County Speaker Thadius Rajwayi and Majority leader Abdalla Kasagamba have claimed their lives are in danger. It is alleged the two received the threats over claims of opposing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's policies. The majority leader vowed to record a statement at the Mombasa central police station. On Monday, a group of MCAs allied to the majority leader spent the better part of the day in his office armed with clubs, ready to defend him. Mombasa County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim urged the two to report the matter to the nearest police station for further investigations.
