The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) says the region will likely return to a modified Stage 2, meaning the possible closure of indoor bar and restaurants, gyms, casinos and other businesses within the coming days. The health unit, which has recorded 435 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic and has seen a recent surge in new cases, oversees communities including Hawkesbury, Alexandria, Clarence-Rockland and Cornwall. The province ordered Ottawa, along with Toronto and Peel region, into a modified Stage 2 earlier this month. 'Teetering' on high-risk thresholdAnother death reported by the health unit on Monday is connected to an outbreak at the Prescott and Russell Residence in Hawkesbury. Roumeliotis said the health unit will discuss the matter with the provincial government and make an announcement in the coming days.
