The outbuildings and, later, the main cottage, were all clad in the same Mabec siding with the look of rough-sawn cedar, stained black to visually recede into the woods. One of the chief ones was the screened-in “Muskoka room” facing the water, closed in by small windows and view-blocking walls. But it was the main house that received the most radical transformation. Like the former Muskoka room directly beneath, the master bedroom features sliding glass doors that can be opened fully, welcoming in the sound of the lake gently lapping the shore below. But in every other way, the spirit of the old cottage – and of the elegant, romantic hotel before it – was kept in mind.
