Model Railroad Museum awarded $10,000 grant

The Model Railroad Museum was among 42 projects in 35 communities receiving a total of $3,600,000 in LCHIP awards. Restoration of the Wolfeboro freight shed would capture and preserve a sense of the role of railroads in the development of the Lakes Region, and the Lakes Region Model Railroad Museum would provide historically accurate and visually impressive modeling. The museum plans to offer an interactive experience for both adults and children, giving them the opportunity to operate elements of the model railroad using the latest technology. The freight shed, located at the start of Wolfeboro’s Bridge Falls multi-use path, was built in 1872. “We are very appreciative of LCHIP’s investment in our efforts to restore the Wolfeboro freight shed building,” said John Simms, president of the Model Railroad Museum.
