Uncertainty caused by the EU referendum has helped trigger a profit warning from Mitie, the outsourcing group whose business spans care for the elderly, pest control and immigration centres. In a trading update, Mitie said customers put projects on hold in the run-up to the 23 June and have continued to delay spending. Mitie also blamed the slowing economy, government spending cuts and higher labour costs for the profit warning. Mitie, led by chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith, said its healthcare business, which provides services for local councils, was particularly affected. It brought forward Monday’s trading statement from the end of the month after the effect on its business became clear.
