Misconduct case of Toronto officer who arrested and released Bruce McArthur in 2016 delayed by illness

The case of the Toronto police sergeant charged with professional misconduct in connection to convicted serial killer Bruce McArthur has been delayed after the officer failed to appear before the tribunal due to an unspecified medical issue. Paul Gauthier is charged with neglect of duty and insubordination under Ontario’s Police Services Act over a 2016 incident when a man alleged McArthur violently choked him during a sexual encounter. McArthur was arrested for assault and interviewed, but released with no charges. Paul Gauthier, seen here in a still from an April 24, 2010, YouTube video, is facing misconduct charges over his handling of a 2016 case involving serial killer Bruce McArthur. He pleaded guilty last month and was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
