The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has pinned its hopes on the “rare” solidarity of minority communities that had turned up in droves to cast their votes to give the United Democratic Front a resounding victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a press conference after a leadership meeting that reviewed the general elections here on Tuesday, KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran said the show of solidarity was in favour of the Congress. Mr. Ramachandran said Congress president Rahul Gandhi was the focus in national politics and not Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Gandhi’s electoral contest from Kerala gave the party a decisive edge. The party faced a tough contest in several seats but it was confident of winning all the 20 seats since it had fielded the best set of candidates, he said and added that the election results would bring out the political undercurrents that were at play.
