NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday released the draft for the model Goods and Services Tax (GST) law for consultation in the public.The draft was released post the meeting of finance minister Arun Jaitley 's meeting with counterparts of 22 states and representatives of seven other in Kolkata.The GST has been touted as the biggest reform post the economic liberalization in 1991, but has faced hurdles in its passage in the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) due to strong Opposition objections.The main opposition has come from Congress which has said it wants the revenue neutral tax rate to be capped at 18 per cent and an independent body to resolve revenue sharing disputes between states.The finance minister post the meet said that all 22 states had given an in-principle nod to the draft of the model GST.
