Ministers accused of 'letting Covid-19 rip' through Army as positive tests up 63%


Some 3,281 positive tests were recorded among British Army personnel so far this year, up from 2,006 in the whole of 2020. In total, 9,502 armed forces personnel have tested positive for Covid since the pandemic began, including 2,496 in the Royal Navy and 1,435 in the Royal Air Force. The figures, published by Defence Minister James Heappey, show how many positive Covid-19 tests had been entered into troops’ medical records. Some 1,080 positive tests have been registered in the Navy this year so far - compared to 1,416 for the whole of last year. In the Air Force, this year has seen 705 positive tests, compared to 730 in the whole of 2020.
