Mindanao martial law still effective – Palacehome/News/Regions/Mindanao martial law still effective – PalaceMALACAÑANG on Friday touted the effectiveness of martial law in Mindanao despite the recent abduction of a British man and his wife in Zamboanga del Sur. “Given na two years na ‘yung martial law d’un at mukha ‘yung number of crimes halos wala, maliban dito sa bago ngayon, ibig sabihin effective (that martial law has been in place for two years, and the number of crimes is almost zero, except to that recent incident, it means it is effective),” Panelo said during a press conference. “You can just imagine, kung walang martial law, baka hindi lang ‘yun (if martial law is not implemented, there could be more crimes other than that). Panelo had described the abduction as “an isolated case,” so it could not always be avoided, despite martial law implementation in the region. The entire Mindanao has been under martial law since May 23, 2017 when fighting erupted in Marawi City.
