Tinsukia, Jan. 22: Militants attacked an Assam Rifles road-opening foot patrol, killing two jawans near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border this morning. Security personnel keep vigil at the ambush site in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Sunday. Bhattacharya claimed that two militants were killed in retaliatory fire by security forces. Firing from the nearby Tingupani jungles could be heard after regular intervals hinting of a possible ongoing encounter between security forces and the militants. Sources said militants took away the arms from the slain jawans.
