At the opening of the meeting, the head of the Interior Ministry thanked the ministers for "the excellent and continuous collaboration already in place", reports a note from the Ministry of the Interior. “When migrants arrive on the North African coast ready to embark – continued Minister Piantedosi – we have all already compromised our ability to prevent irregular flows of migrants. The meeting also aims "to unify visions and adopt a global approach to combat the phenomenon of illegal migration".
