Michael Madhusudan Dutta, the pioneer of sonnet and rhymes, will always be remembered in the history of Bengali literature, speakers said at a discussion on his 198th birth anniversary on Wednesday. They made the remarks at a virtual discussion, organized by Bangla Academy, marking the birth anniversary of the poet. An epic poet and playwright, Madhusudan was born on January 25, 1824, at Sagardari, Jessore. Bangla Academy Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda presided over the program while Madhusudan researcher Kashru Parvez gave a welcome address. Bangla Academy Secretary AHM Lokman and Additional Cultural Secretary Hashna Jahan Khanam were present as guests of honor at the discussion.
