US congressional investigators are examining whether Michael Flynn, Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, secretly promoted a plan by private business interests to build US-Russian nuclear power plants in the Middle East while he was serving in the White House. They are also examining whether the proposal is still being promoted by the Trump administration, months after Flynn was forced out of his role. Investigators in Congress are examining Flynn's extensive foreign business ties, which were not disclosed before he joined the White House. The White House has admitted that former president Barack Obama warned incoming president Trump against hiring Flynn but the advice was ignored. Investigators are also still investigating the names of other Trump campaign officials who allegedly discussed the project with Flynn.
