The bottles are recycled and used as raw material for clothing, carpet and grocery bags. "Environment-conscious metro commuters have begun using the bottle crusher machines. At present, about 2,000 bottles are crushed by commuters everyday on weekdays in each unit," MMOPL spokesperson said. MMOPL, in July 2017, had installed plastic bottle crushers at DN Nagar, Andheri, Chakala, Marol Naka, Saki Naka and Ghatkopar Metro stations.
