After two global ransomware attacks, Maharashtra government is moving to ring-fence the cyber security infrastructure for machines on its network. In May 2016, around 150 computers in the state administrative headquarters of Mantralaya were infected by the 'Locky' ransomware. The state government is now looking to strengthen its digital security infrastructure, as it moves towards a less-cash economy and digital delivery of government to citizen (G2C) services. The centre will be set up either in Mumbai or Pune by the Maharashtra State IT Corporation. The centre will identify doubtful hits based on the source or format.
