The temperature is likely to soar and may touch 40-degree Celsius mark in next few days as a second spell of heat wave is sweeping over Bangladesh. Meteorologists consider the temperature ranging from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius a ‘mild’, from 38 to 40 degrees Celsius ‘moderate’ and over 40 degrees Celsius a ‘severe heat wave’. Accordingly, the country has been experiencing mild to moderate heat wave over the last four days, said meteorologist Ruhul Kuddus. The heat wave has been sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. A severe heat wave (above 40 degrees Celsius) in the north and northwest region and one to two mild heat waves (36-38 degrees C) or moderate heat wave (38-40 degrees Celsius) elsewhere in the country may occur this month, Met Office forecasts.
