“I was elected (as a lawmaker) in the last national election. Regardless, I testify that the people could not cast their votes in the election. Similar incidents occurred in the subsequent upazila and union parishad polls,” he claimed. Menon, who served at separate ministries during the ruling Awami League’s last tenure, was speaking as chief guest at a Barisal Town Hall party program Saturday afternoon. The event was also addressed by his party colleagues of Barisal city and district units, and local left-leaning political leader.
