Members of suspended SUST BCL vandalise teacher’s office over Facebook post

Members of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) vandalised a teacher’s office room in his absence on Monday over a Facebook post. The victim Mohammad Monjur-Ul-Haider, assistant professor of Department of Anthropology, made a post on Saturday saying: “Counting days. The joyous August is coming.”Senior Vice-President of suspended SUST unit BCL Abu Sayeed said: “Chhatra League will not tolerate such inappropriate attitude towards the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. If they do not take actions against the teacher then we will arrange appropriate punishment for him.”This created a controversy and later BCL activists ransacked the teacher’s office room. According to Monjur, the post was not written with an intention of hurting anyone.
