A Shillong district jail guard was killed and a Meghalaya police constable was grievously injured when their motorcycle collided head-on with a Mercedes car driven by the son of Meghalaya health minister, Alexander Hek of the BJP early Saturday. Police said preliminary investigation has revealed that Aibansharai Nongsiej, the 28 year-old son of Hek was driving the brand new dark blue Mercedes bearing a temporary registration number. “I remained with the injured person throughout the night as he didn’t have any relative and also told the hospital authorities to extend all help to him,” a visibly shaken and perturbed Hek said. It is not known whether Nongsiej was intoxicated at the time of the accident happened. Till the time of filing this report, top cops remained unavailable for comment or further inputs and it remains to be seen whether the minister’s son will be arrested.
