President Pranab Mukherjee, through a warrant at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday, appointed Purohit and Acharya to discharge the functions of the governors of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in addition to their present charges as the governors of Assam and Nagaland. Shanmuganathan had taken over as Meghalaya governor on May 20, 2015. Whether he felt it necessary to have an inquiry into the allegations against Shanmuganthan to restore the dignity of Raj Bhavan, Purohit said: "The law will take its own course."
