The scientist who was named alongside professor Tulio de Oliveira as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world, Dr Sikhulile Moyo, says the recognition shows that it takes a village to raise a child. Moyo speaks to James de Villiers about how the Omicron variant was discovered in Botswana, why the upcoming flu season will be a "test" for Covid-19, and how he managed to overcome financial struggles to become a celebrated scientist. Dr Sikhulile Moyo, 49, believes that it was by the grace of God that he was named one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. Because Zimbabwean-born Moyo - who has been a born-again Christian since 1987 - says without God's guidance, he would never have been able to complete his studies.
