Ed Engler in California for cancer treatmentBy RICK GREEN, LACONIA DAILY SUNLACONIA — Mayor Ed Engler has gone to Southern California for medical treatment of colon cancer and will be away at least a month. “I will keep you posted as to my progress and, after surgery, will be available via phone, email, etc.,” he stated. City Councilor Armand Bolduc is mayor pro tem and will fill in for Engler during his absence, running council meetings and breaking any potential tie votes. He has been mayor for four years. He is president of The Laconia Daily Sun, was one of its founders and is the newspaper's former publisher and editor.
