KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 8): Maybank Investment Bhd (Maybank IB) is "slightly bullish" on the listing of initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2017, saying there is a healthy pipeline for local IPOs this year. "We have quite a healthy pipeline for IPOs and fundraising for 2017. That is very positive for us," Chong told reporters at Invest ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) 2017, organised by both Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Maybank Kim Eng Holdings Ltd. In 2016, there were 11 local IPOs that raised RM596.6 million, barely 14% of the RM4.35 billion raised in 2015, according to an article in The Edge Malaysia Weekly (Dec 19–25, 2016) issue. The number of IPOs in 2016 was the same as the year before, which is the lowest since 1989, when there were 13 IPOs.
