Dispelling the fears of the environmentalists, Mathura Refinery General Manager S M Vaidya told India Today that the refinery is very active towards environment preservation and extends intenisve care towards the nature under its Care Innovation Passion Trust. He said that it was the continuous effort of the refinery that the environment in the TTZ remains unharmed and the pollution levels produced by the refinery remain minimum. By 2021, it is hoped that the refinery will be producing 11 MMTPA. It also mentions that bird sanctuary in its 18 sq km area is actually thriving. AIDING THE ENVIRONMENTHe said that the refinery had a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of Rs 9.58 crores and the it included skill development camps for the local youth of Mathura.
