Anzac Day services at Matakana War Memorial has been cancelled following police advice. A small north Auckland community's Anzac Day service has been cancelled amid fears for public safety following the Christchurch mosque shootings. Matakana War Memorial said on Monday police told them to cancel their Anzac Day service because of the "current terror threat level". Superintendent Karyn Malthus said on Friday it was important to reiterate: "There is no specific risk to public safety at this time. Matakana War Memorial said it was important the day or remembrance was not diminished.
