New Zealand's longest married couple say life hasn't been a bed of roses - but tolerance and sacrifice has seen them through. The pair have outlasted Canada's longest married couple, who celebrated 80 years in 2016, and a United States' couple, who had their 83rd anniversary in September. The longest verified marriage belongs to Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher who were married 86 years when Herbert died in 2011. The pair married at 19 and in 1953 moved to New Zealand, after an initial move in 1928 by Jeram. Guinness World Records spokesperson Jessica Dawes said it didn't have a verified record holder in its longest marriage category, and were always searching for new record holders.
