Markets fell for fifth straight session, longest losing streak since February


MUMBAI: The Indian markets on Tuesday fell for the fifth session to a near six-week low, tracking losses in global markets amid escalation in trade tension between the US and China. Both indices fell for the fifth consecutive session, their longest losing streak since February and ended at a level last seen on 27 March. “The Indian markets have been on shaky ground for the past couple of days, driven by ambiguity associated with the US-China trade negotiations and less-than-inspiring corporate earnings. Oil marketing companies’ stocks fell. Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd fell 3%, Hindustan Petroleum Corp 2.7% and Indian Oil Corp 2%.
