Though these daily markets have not faced a major fire disaster in the recent past, several minor mishaps have taken place. On February 15, around 20 shops were gutted in a fire at the Unit-I market. In November 2013, property worth Rs 50 lakh was gutted in a fire at Saheed Nagar daily market. In October 2011, a fire at the Unit-I daily market had destroyed property worth Rs 50 lakh. They should also spend some money and install fire safety measures in daily markets," said Saheed Nagar resident Anita Mangaraj.
