Last week, the soaring stock market tumbled amid fears of war in Korea. Even though this was not a major market slump, such a dip usually presents a buying opportunity: Stocks are cheaper. North Korea may be serving the stock market a little exogenous dip this week. Over the past 37 years, the average market intra-year pullback from the high was -14.2% (indicated as negative red numbers in the chart below). Being served an additional dip before yearend on the way to a positive calendar year return would not be unusual.
